Pre-Season Friendlies

The Pre-Season Friendlies are now over for another season and we count down to our first league game of the season on the 30th of July at home to Portsmouth.

Here are our last 5  friendlies before the season starts.

Most people can get a little carried away when it comes to pre-season friendlies but for me, they are all about getting the team together and seeing any new partnerships, leaders, players mentally, and so on.

From the list above you will see in terms of results it’s been VERY poor from a Wednesday view, the teams are bang average at best BUT again, this is ONLY pre-season and it’s not really about winning games, it’s about getting the players up to fitness and blending in any new players. I do feel that most of Wednesday pre-seasons are pretty poor and I don’t feel like we have ever had a decent pre-season for a VERY long time but maybe that’s an issue for another day!

Once again there have been a lot of goings and comings at Wednesday but we did seem to get things done early this time, which could turn out to be a good thing in the long run, but I do feel we could have done a lot better in terms of transfers.

As for pre-season from a results point of view it’s been disappointing but I think from a fitness and team point of view, it has been good. I just hope Moore has got his message across to the players and it’s something they believe in, it’s going to be a tough season (again)!
